Results not affected by Hgb up to 120 mg/dL, bilirubin up to 14 mg/dL, triglycerides up to 1500 mg/dL and Rheumatoid Factor (RF) up to 50 IU/mL.  The presence of Rheumatoid Factor (RF) may produce an overestimation of the test results.

Clinical Utility: Quantitative determination of Von Willebrand Factor Antigen (VWF antigen) is essential to reach a proper diagnosis of von Willebrand Disease (VWD), congenital bleeding disorder.  VWD is classified as type 1 or type 3 (quantitative defects) or type 2 (qualitative defect) depending upon laboratory findings. 

Unacceptable Conditions: QNS, clotted, hemolyzed, and/or turbid samples
