Notes: TEST MUST BE SCHEDULED BEFORE DRAW. Call Special Coagulation Laboratory at 469-419-4040 between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, M-F for scheduling. Specimen CANNOT be sent through tube system; MUST be walked to the Logistics Laboratory, 3rd Floor. Specimen must be collected by nurse unless patient is drawn in outpatient lab.
Clinical Utility: Many drugs inhibit platelet function. Unless the aim is to demonstrate drug-induced inhibition, patients should be free of drugs known to affect platelets for two weeks prior to testing.
Unacceptable Conditions: Clotted specimens. Unable to complete platelet aggregation within 3 hours from collection. Platelet Count < 125,000.
