Notes: Specimens received in the laboratory more than 2 hours following collection will be rejected due to morphological distortions of malaria when at room temperature for prolonged periods.
Clinical Utility: This test is intended to diagnose cases of suspected malaria or other blood borne parasite infection. If a patient has already been diagnosed with malaria in the same encounter, the Malaria Monitoring test order should be placed.
