CPT Codes: 85060, 85097, 88305 x 2, 88311, 88313 x 2, 88161

Performed By: Hematology

Notes: Consult and schedule with Heme/Onc Services. BM Procedures are performed at the patient's bed-side or in the Heme/Onc Clinic as an Out Patient. Heme/Onc prearranges the procedure time (M-F) with the Bone Marrow Lab by calling 469-419-4040. A Routine Bone Marrow Procedure includes the following:  BM Aspirate, BM Triphine (Core) Biopsy, BM Core Touch Prep, Routine BM Exam, BM Phenotype and a BM Chromosome orders.  Additional tests are available and should be scheduled before the procedure time. A CBC must be ordered, if no CBC as been performed within 8 hours of the procedure. Bone Marrows may be requested as a medical emergency on Weekends and Holidays for newly suspected New Acute Leukemias. Off-hours Bone Marrow procedures require approval by the Pathology Resident on Call (Pager # 214-786-3753).
