Clinical Utility:
This test is used to detect and identify upper respiratory virus and bacteria from individuals suspected of respiratory tract infections. Results of this test must be correlated with the clinical history, epidemiological data, and other data available to the clinician evaluating the patient. A negative result does not exclude the possibility of viral or bacterial infection.
Refer to the Laboratory Reflex Testing Protocol, all RVP requests should first have a COVID/FLU/RSV PCR test performed. If it has not been performed within 24 hours, a Coronavirus/Influenza/RSV PCR test will be added. If any components are positive, the RVP will be cancelled.
